FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Self-contained seawater desalinator delivers 40 to 80 litres per hour from 12V or 24V power, rated for round-the-clock operation in disaster relief, military and marine environments
GOLD COAST, Australia, 6 October 2026 — LEDI Watermakers today announced the release of Nomad, a portable seawater reverse osmosis watermaker designed to produce safe drinking water anywhere there is seawater and a power source. Built around a Cat Pump high-pressure pump and engineered for repair in the field, Nomad is rated for continuous 24-hour operation.
Nomad is fully self-contained, combining pump, motor, membrane, filtration, controls and water-quality instruments in a single portable unit. It requires no permanent installation and can run from a vehicle, vessel, battery bank, solar array, generator or mains supply.
“We designed Nomad for the moments when water matters most and help is furthest away,” said Dael Liddicoat, founder and managing director of LEDI Watermakers. “That meant choosing a pump with a proven track record, stripping out anything that doesn’t need to be there, and making sure the person standing next to it can keep it running.”
Key features
- Cat Pump high-pressure pump. An industrial plunger pump with a decades-long service record. Seal and valve kits are stocked by distributors worldwide.
- Field serviceable. Standard fittings, accessible components and no proprietary tools. Routine maintenance is a pump oil change at 50 hours, then every 500 hours, plus washable pre-filters.
- Fully self-contained and portable. One unit, nothing to install. Connect feed, product and power to start producing water.
- Built-in TDS and flow metering. Real-time readings of product water quality and production rate.
- Output selector. Diverts start-up water to a sample or overboard line until it meets quality standards, so only good water reaches storage.
- Continuous-duty rating. Rated for round-the-clock operation, producing close to 2,000 litres per day at 80 litres per hour.
- Flexible power. 12V and 24V DC versions, with industrial IP66 mains supplies available. 48V builds are available to order.
Applications
Disaster relief: Nomad can be flown or driven into cyclone, flood and tsunami-affected coastal areas and begin producing drinking water on day one, independent of damaged infrastructure.
Military and expeditionary: Portability, multi-voltage power and a continuous-duty rating give forward units water independence without a logistics tail.
Marine: Cruisers, charter operators and work boats gain production rates usually reserved for installed systems, with no installation required.
Availability
Nomad is available now in 12V and 24V configurations at 40, 60 and 80 litres per hour. Custom systems up to 160 litres per hour, 48V builds, and trade, government and agency enquiries are welcome.
Nomad joins LEDI’s Scout, a compact 12V watermaker producing 10 or 20 litres per hour. Scout is built for smaller boats, vehicles and remote camps where space and power are tight, and it shares Nomad’s 2521 seawater membrane and field-serviceable approach. Scout is also available now.
