Every litre of stored fresh water adds roughly a kilogram before the boat even reaches the ramp.
Scout gives you another way to plan the trip: carry a suitable reserve and replenish fresh water from seawater while you're away. That can leave more of your available payload for fuel, ice and gear.
Fresh water for drinking, cooking, washing up and a rinse after a day on the water. Without making every litre a towing decision.

Connect the supplied intake and hoses and a suitable fused power supply. Prime and operate Scout following the user manual.
03 / Replenish and pack away
Make water during the trip.
Top up your supply, check product-water quality as instructed, then flush and store the system for its next use.

Before you head out
A few practical questions.
How much water could I make in a day?
Scout 20 makes approximately 20 L/h at its recommended pressure, so a two-hour run produces about 40 L under the stated conditions. Your daily demand and available battery capacity determine the right runtime. Feed-water temperature and salinity affect output.
Does it need a permanent installation?
No. Scout can be operated as a portable system with its intake and hoses, or assessed for a fitted setup. Either approach needs suitable electrical connections, an appropriate operating position and access for maintenance.
How do I power Scout?
Each unit comes with a 2 m 12V lead with an Anderson plug. Connect it to a matching Anderson outlet on your boat's fused 12V supply, then plug in Scout and run it. If your boat has a battery-monitor shunt, connect the supply's negative lead to the load/system side of the shunt; positive connects to the fused positive supply. Scout 20 typically draws 16 to 18A on 12V. 24V power is available on request. Contact LEDI to discuss a 24V setup.
Can I carry less water if I have Scout?
Potentially. The comparison depends on how much stored water you would otherwise carry and the weight of Scout, accessories and any installation. Keep an appropriate independent reserve for your crew, route and conditions, and remain within your boat and trailer limits.
Can my boatbuilder include Scout with a new boat?
Ask your builder to contact LEDI. We can discuss Scout as an optional accessory or assess a fitted arrangement against the model and intended use. Availability and commercial arrangements are agreed directly.
