How to choose

Questions to ask before choosing

01

How much water do you need?

Work out your daily use, then divide by the hours you are happy to run the watermaker. Scout suits smaller crews topping up a tank or containers. Nomad suits bigger crews, longer passages and off-grid living.

02

What power do you have?

Scout runs on 12V at a typical 16–18 A, which a modest battery and solar set-up can support. Nomad draws about 50 A at 12V or 25 A at 24V, so it needs a larger battery bank and charging.

03

Who will carry it?

Scout weighs about 18 kg in a carry case, so one person can move it. Nomad weighs about 50 kg, so plan where it will sit and how you will lift it.

04

Would an installed system suit you better?

If the watermaker will stay in one place and you want it plumbed into your tanks, a LEDI Modular system splits into smaller modules that fit tighter spaces.

Portable or Modular?

Two ways to make fresh water

You are here

Portable: Scout and Nomad

  • One self-contained unit with no permanent installation
  • Connect power, place the feed pump in the water and run
  • Move it between your boat, vehicle and camp
  • 10 L/h to 80 L/h

Modular: Compact to Outpost

  • Permanently installed and plumbed into your tanks
  • Separate pump, filter and membrane modules fit into tight or awkward spaces
  • Remote control panel or local controls
  • 20 L/h to 160 L/h
